Stags | Player of the day : Thomas Manson

Another great day of cricket for the Stags. Highlights were Ashley and Max each bowling a wicket "maiden" over. Ashley bowled the ball and then caught it, whereas Tim caught the ball in Max's over. Tim achived a hat-trick - 2 bowls and then Ben took a catch off Tim's next bowl. The boys all fielded well. We had some good batting partnerships. Tim/Stephen achieving 35 runs; Ben/Ashley 25 runs; Max/Tirish 12 runs and Lachlan/Thomas 43 runs. Magic Moment to Tim for the hat-trick and Player of the day to Thomas for his batting.

It was a great team effort by the Stags with Player of the Day Ben getting a hat trick during one of his bowling stints and Magic Moment Tim taking a string of mighty catches. Stephen also chimed in with some awesome catches and solid batting performance. Tirish and Thomas were our most consistent bowlers and with Lachy and Ashley's experience and enthusiasm an exciting and entertaining game was had by all. The spectators thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle.

Great match! Captian Manas won the toss and elected to field. The bowlers did well to restrict the Bulls to the score of 62. There was some great running between wickets from Bulls but there was equally great fielding from Blues - two catches, 4 run outs, few bowl outs and not much wides! Overall great performance. Matthew deserved to be the Player of the day for his batting and listening skills and the Magic Moment went to Jackson and Akshath for their catches.

On a cloudy morning Captain Anania won the toss and put the Cornwall Aces in to bat. Player of the day, Max, had success in the first over taking 2 wickets. He finished with figures of 3 overs 3 wickets for 0 runs. Other good bowling figures were Anania 2 overs one wicket for 3 runs and Aizak 2 overs for 3 runs. Fielding was much improved with the all the players’ backing up throws from the field. Going into bat all the partnerships contributed runs the highlights being the opening partnership of Jack(22) and Daniel(11) for 33 runs and the closing partnership of Max(20) and Ethan(9) for 29 runs.

Stags | Player of the day : Lachlan Dickson

It was a cold and blustery Friday evening for game 3. Lachy was captain and we fielded first. The Lions batted well and it was only through tight fielding and spirited chasing that we kept their run rate in check. Our bowling was a big improvement on last week, especially from the new players. Thomas and Stephen made one catch each, Ashley and Lachy both took two wickets and Ashley and Stephen got run-outs. Stephen and Lachy opened with strong batting and running between wickets for a partnership of 40. Max and Ashley combined well for 14. Ben and Tirish scored 4 and Thomas and Timmy finished strongly for a partnership of 33. Stags managed to win with 91 runs to 72 in a great contest. Well done to both teams. Magic Moment went to Ashley for getting 2 wickets. Player of the day was Lachy for great bowling and batting.

Bulls | Player of the day : Ethan Young

Another great morning for cricket, Cornwall Bulls went into the game with six players. Captain Daniel lost the toss and Ellerslie Pharlap decided to bat first. Some great spin bowling by Luca saw him regularly beat both the batsman and the wicketkeeper, and he finished with figures of 4 overs for 11 runs (most of them byes). Other good bowling by Max 3 overs and 2 wickets for 3 runs, Aizak 3 overs 2 wickets for -2 runs, Ethan 3 overs 2 wickets for 0 runs saw Pharlap restricted to 33 runs. Commendations to Pharlap who supplied two fielders that helped out willingly in the field. Other highlights were a great catch (magic moment) by Aizak from the first ball really hit by the opposition, and quick thinking by Max for a run out. Going into bat the standout performance was from Ethan (13) and included a four. Big improvements where seen in the batting of Daniel and James to complete a score of 57 runs. Player of the Day – Ethan Young.

Led by Captain Logan the boys battled bravely but in the end failed to contain the Blues score. Winning the toss we batted first and accumulated a modest total which in the end was not quite enough. Some excellent bowling created a few catching oppertunities but the ball was a bit slippery and made its way through the hands to the ground. First friday night game was fun.

Stags | Player of the day : Stephen Stuart

It was great weather for our first Saturday match. Ben lost the toss and Knights elected to bat. There was lots of good bowling with Stephen getting two wickets and Lachy, Tirish, Timmy getting a wicket each. Max was unlucky when his bowl went through the stumps without knocking the bails. Timmy and Stephen combined for a run out and Ben caught off Max’s bowling. We had plenty of opportunities for catches all over the field. Thomas and Timmy opened the batting well with 26 runs. Max and Tirish scored 5, and Ashley and Ben made 11. Stephen and Lachy had a great last wicket for 24 runs. We managed another win scoring 66 to 23. Well done Stags. Well done Knights. Magic Moment went to Tirish for a great wicket. Player of the day was Stephen for his great batting.

match report

Wizzards | Player of the day : Elijah

It was a cool but sunny day at Ellerslie and captain for the day Sanjeev won the toss and decided to have the Bushrangers bat in the fresh morning conditions. The team put in a great display of bowling and fielding with a run out on the first ball and Eiljah and Chris getting 2 runs outs each with direct hits. All the bowlers were successful with 13 wickets taken and 5 run outs, Elijah was in great form and had a hand in at least 9 of the dismissals. This restricted the Bushrangers to 50 which seemed a getable target. An excellent batting display from all the team and losing only 8 wickets took the score to 87. The running between the wickets was much improved, with the exception of a couple off overly optimistic calls by the coach. Chris top scored on 20 with Gemma and Elijah scoring 18 and 15 respectively.

Bushrangers | Player of the day : Liam Wheeler

The Bushrangers came out to play with hope in their eyes and a spring in their step. With Harry and Liam showing the way with the opening partnership, Amith, Hugh, Bhavi, George, Shane and Tushar all stepped up to the mark. The magic moment went to Shane who caught a blinder from behind the wicket. The Warriors gave great chase and it was an exiting game to watch. Parents were vocal but very fair and fun was had by all. The scorers from both teams did lose feeling in there toes but blankets were found to keep them toastie and warm. Well done to all the boys from both teams.

Warriors | Player of the day: William O'Rourke

The Warriors were beaten by a good Bushrangers side who fielded superbly. For the Warriors Charles Cleal (22), William O'Rourke(22) and Oliver White(21) batted very well but unfortunately having 14 outs compared to 6 was the difference between the teams The Warriors bowling was steady but we were let down by a large number of wides. All in all a good start to the season but plenty to work on.

match report

Bulls | Player of the day : Aizak Howell

A glorious sunny morning saw the Bulls winning the toss and putting the Wizards into bat. Some great bowling and fielding restricted the Wizards to 65 runs. Best bowling figures where Aizak 3 overs 2 wickets for 3 runs, Ethan 2 overs 1 wicket for 3 runs and Jack 2 overs for 4 runs. Anania took a great diving catch for the Magic Moment. There was also a catch by Aizak and a run out by Jack. Congratulations to the Wizards opening partnership that scored 35 of the Wizards runs. Going into bat the Bulls got off to a slow start, but there was a recovery in the third partnership of Aizak (16) and Daniel, and the fourth partnership of Jack (18) and James (13) nearly got the Bulls home in a nail biting finish. Conceding 10 wickets to the Wizards’ 7, gives the Bulls plenty to work on in their next match.

Wizards | Player of the day: Winter Brown

On a gloriously sunny morning at Cornwall the Wizards started the season well, with a close fought 4 run victory against the Bulls. Captain Elijah lost the toss and we were invited to bat. A superb opening partnership by Chris and Elijah (35) set up the innings. Sound middle order batting with the partnerships of, Sanjeev and Alex, Winter and Gemma all adding to the score, and a flourish in the final partnership by Conner and Hamish, took the total to 65 with 7 outs. The challenge was then to concentrate in the field and restrict the Bulls. The whole team put in a great effort in with everyone bowling and keeping well and extras keep to a minimum. Winter and Gemma took wickets in their first ever games. The boys all bowled well and the 10 outs achieved clinched the victory.

Lachy and Timmy partnered for 18 runs, Ben and Tirish for 18 runs, Max and Ashley for 13 runs, and Stephen and Thomas for 19 runs. The crowd was treated to lots of good batting and quick running. All our bowlers did well, with Lachy, Timmy, Thomas, Max getting 2 wickets each. Good fielding too, with plenty of catches and run-outs. Thomas was player of the day for his excellent batting and fielding. "Magic moment" went to Ben for a superb high catch as wicket keeper. Congratulations to the team, and especially the new-comers, on their first win.
