Cairns | Player of the day : Ashton Nelson

Two good teams enjoyed a competitive game. For the third week running 'Cairns' scored over 100 runs batting first. Luke, Reagan and Taylor were the top scorers with Reagan playing some particularly good shots against some fast bowling. Blake played his best two strokes of the season, smashing a pull shot and straight drive. Ashton bowled fast and straight, bowling one batsman. He also clipped the stumps a second time but the bails failed to dislodge! Josh and Seb bowled consistently and Henry won the magic moment for a crucial diving stop towards the end of the close game. Overall a good match.

Cairns | Player of the day : Taylor Tairua Doyle

For the second week in a row the team scored over 100 runs thanks mainly to some good batting and running from Taylor, Reagan, Luke and Seb. Taylor won player of the day for scoring a huge 24 runs. Blake was promised a magic moment if he made a good wicket keeping stop and duly obliged with a fabulous dive. Ice cream is a good motivator! Well done to Josh who was the the straightest bowler. Isaac, playing his first game was a very fast runner between the wickets and captain Ashton led the team to a win with some excellent batting and bowling.

Bracewell | Player of the day: Pranav Balamurali

Following a turbulent week of injuries and high stake player transfers we settled on a 7 player team for our second game. An improved bowling effort from last week saw some great bowling from Adam, Pranav, Daniel, Jacob and Kavi. Pranav provided a great runout and a brilliant stop in the field earned Adam the magic moment prize this week . Jacob ran and backed up well all innings. Our batting effort was also improved from last week with excellent batting from Kavi, a great partnership from Daniel and Pranav and some resolute batting from Adam and Tejas. Our new player Romero showed real potential in his first ever full game. A brilliant all round game from Pranav earned him the man of the match award.

Rutherford | Player of the day: Alexander Smithson

Great start to a season. All the boys showed their mettle. Alexander displayed some VERY impressive bowling as did James Staples and Jake Moosbally. Joshua and William displayed terrific fielding work, Matthew did well behind the stumps and Tom showed speed and enthusiasm! Seaton displayed terrific concentration running between the wickets! James was the most economic bowler while Jake and Alex put in a great batting partnership. Bring on the next one!

Bracewell | Player of the day : Daniel Askew

A fine day greated us for the first game of the season. Captain for the day Kavi won the toss and we fielded first. Pranav, Daniel, jacob and Kavi showed excellent bowling form , each hitting the stumps with terrific deliveries and several run outs also resulted. However Wright's batsmen played well and ended up with a very good score. During our turn at bat Arun, Tejas and Adam showed some real promise with the bat with Daniel and Pranav also contibuting well. Daniel's top score of 23 runs plus 2 runout's and a wicket won him the man of the match award. A big thanks to Sampson Aldous for filling our vacant position for us today.

Harris | Player of the day : Player of the Day Sam Heyes - Magic Moment Jacob Rackham (catch)

A brutal start to the 09/10 season for the young, inexperienced but very keen Harris side. With half the side rolling their arm over for the very first time this match was always about getting some game time under the belt. This goal was achieved and it was a good thing we didn't set any others. 36 to 68 tells the story and full credit to a very talented Morrison side. Sam Heyes received player of the day for his gutsy effort with the bat while Jacob Rackham was awarded Magic Moment for his stunning outfield catch. He was asked to describe the catch "I wasn't really watching but I heard the others yell catch so I looked up and caught the ball, then fell over and rolled" Great stuff! Bring on Parore this Friday.

Great start in great weather. Henry began with a sweet off drive and clean bowled two batsmen. Luke and Seb smashed a few drives. Ashton and Josh bowled fast and straight. Reagan had a direct hit run out. Taylor ran super quick between the wickets and Blake was fab at hitting off the tees.

match report

Richardson | Player of the day : Ben Tomlinson

The first game of the season with two teams named after dour left-handed openers! Not a good omen. However, Richardson's captain for the day, Lucas, called correctly and we batted first. All four partnerships yielded good results. Jared and Thomas scored 26, Brady and Harrison 28, Robert and Lucas 41 and Sam and Ben 17. A total of 90 was a good effort! The bowling and fielding effort was equally good despite the onset of the cold evening and the fact that being next to the BBQ was causing distractingly good cooking smells to waft across the pitch. Everyone was good in the field but mention must be made of the direct hit run outs made by Brady, Robert and Ben. The bowling was also good with Sam's two overs costing 3 net runs, Ben's 1, Robert's 1, Lucas' 0, Brady's -3, Harrison's 3, Jared 7 and Thomas's 10. All-in-all a solid start to the season. Ben Tomlinson was player of the day for his good all-round performance and his concentration throughout the fielding effort.
