Elliot | Player of the day : Arjun Patel

On, on, on into the valley of death rode our faithful team Elliot... but with a different result this time. The game started on a similar path to several this season. We fielded first, had a reasonable start with Rohan and Sahil bowing well. Jason (welcome back!), Angus and Michael in particular finished our effort neatly leaving us a target that we have bettered before. The difference this week was that there were no holes in our batting effort and each partnership contributed positively. Sahil in particular hit the ball cleanly and, with Arjun and Angus both playing good innings,we ran out winners on the day. Thank you to Team Styris for their attitude to the game and in particular thanks to their parents for their patience with us and for graciously accepting our parental glee at breaking our duck - its not all about winning but it is certainly nice to do it once!

Fleming | Player of the day : Amir

A tough day at the office for Team Fleming. The team batted first and faced some really tight bowling from team Patel. Once again Harrison and Ollie put up some strng resistence, scoring 2 and 3 respectively. What was great to see was that all the boys are now understanding what running between the wickets is about, so wickets are being protected mre so than before. The boys bowled well, knowing that it was going to be hard to defend a small total, but they did extremely well. In particular Amir got a wicket to earn himself players of the day, and Francis bowled a maiden which was great in the circumstances. Good cricket boys and thanks as always to be parents and supports who came along and helped out and/or supported the team from the boundary.

Team Elliot continue to march on with enthusiasm. Unfortunately our poor start batting first meant that we were always likely to struggle but Sahil once again gave us a chance with a lusty 17. Angus was player of the day for his excellent bowling (hitting the stumps twice) and batting displays. Rohan displayed comfortably the best bowling action and time will reward him for that. Thanks to the team for sticking to the game in the field and to Phoebe for once more filling in for us. Congratulations to Team Ryder who were well worth their win.

Again our captain of the day, Sahil won the toss and elected to bat. If only the game’s results could be decided with our luck with the toss. We had a memorable performance batting and taking every opportunity. Well done team Elliot, everyone showed improvement and promise. Our bowling almost matched our batting with narrowly losing by 3 runs, providing us with our closest game. The player of the day was our captain of the day, Sahil with a complete “all rounder’s” game with bat, ball and fielding. Angus had the magic moment, after being hit in the field and showed determination to continue knowing that we were 2 players short. Well done team Elliot, keep your heads held high. Congratulations to team Patel for their win and the spirit that the game was played.

We started well with the captain of the day, Ben, winning the toss and electing to bat. Our secret weapon, Phoebe played again and performed admirably, filling in for two players. With our shortages, team Elliot played again with enthusiasm that was lead by Sahil and Phoebe. The player of the day was Michael for his fine contribution with the bat. Arjun had the magic moment for a massive hit that almost collect me. We were well restricted by a fine bowling attack from team Oram. Congratulations to team Oram for their win and their team’s spirit.

Joshua led the batting effort with 9 runs, Matthew 8, there was some excellent running between the wickets but some tight bowling made an exciting finish.

Elliot | Player of the day : Arjun Patel

It was a welcomed return to cricket. Rohan our captain of the day won the toss and decided to bat. It was a fine bowling display by team McCallum that made acquiring runs difficult. Our bowling was improved with noticeable improvements. Congratulations to team McCullum for their win and their team’s sprint. Player of the day was Arjun for his misery bowling including 3 wickets. A well deserved recognition to reflect his improvements in practising during the holidays. The magic moment was the Sahil’s shot to deep square leg. It was a very brave effort for Argus to play with his broken arm cast only coming off the day before. Thanks to Angus’s younger sister, Phoebe, playing to make up our team numbers. Not even our newly revealed secret weapon could stop the flow of runs from team McCullum. Thanks to all parents to allow Phoebe to participate, we hope that we have started an interest in this wonderful game. Continued thanks for the parent's help. Heaps from Sarah (co-coaching)and Monish (umpiring).

Elliot | Player of the day : Jason Lee

Fielding only five of our usual line-up due to holiday commitments was always going to make this an interesting encounter but we emerged with our heads held high and self-esteem intact. In fact the chance of more action per player really suited the boys. Batting first we again topped our season high, with Sahil striking double figures, and we all stuck to the job in the field and remained in contention until the last over. To be beaten by the ability of the other team to hit the ball cleanly and run well is no disgrace.Congratulations to Team Guptill for their win and for how they played the game. Our player of the day, Jason, showed great spirit throughout the game and bowled straight. Thank you to the Team Elliot parents for their support and continued optimism. Another fun day at the Park to send us into our mid-season break in good spirits.

Guptill | Player of the day: Adam

Our bowling was better this week, with George and Hayden both getting outs and Flynn and Adam both conceding 1 run. Fielding was agsin very good with Matthew and Ryan leading the way and Flynn got a run out with a direct throw. Josh and Ryan safely got us off to a good start batting, Ryan got his highest score, Hayden and Matthew and George ran well and Flynn finished off the innings in style. The coach was pleased with everyone hitting the ball a lot better than previously and running well. A great result to finish the first half of the season.

Our most exciting game of the season so far. Our best bowling and fielding effort saw Bond restricted to 23 runs., with Adam, Josh, Jack and Flynn all getting outs. Faced with the most accurate bowling we have experienced so far everyone defended well and slowly built towards a match winning total only to miss out by 1 run.

Ben was the batsman of the day showing good form and style while everyone hit the ball more cleanly. Our bowling effort featured several good overs with Sam delivering some mighty fast bowls. Kartik was out there doing his thing in a style all of his own. His batting, bowling and fielding proving to be awarded a well earned player of the day. The magic moment went to Sam as did the memorable moment for bowling and fielding, only fitting as this was his last game for team Fleming, we'll all be sad to see him go. Congratulations also to the boys of Team Mills who were easily too good on the day.

Following our rain out last week Team Elliot were refreshed and raring to go. Thanks go to Coach Chris for organising the indoor training session as skills continue to improve. If you can have a player of the day for a rain-out it would undobtedly have been Rohan for smashing all-comers around the nets.. Great stuff! Back to the game... Having been inserted we batted steadily throughout our innings and with only two dismissals to weigh us down we again surpassed our season high in posting 21. Captain Michael impressed with his hitting off the tee. Half way through our bowling effort the game was evenly poised until Team Franklin pulled away through some excellent batting and clean hitting the like of which we had not witnessed before. Hats off to them for their performance and thanks to the parents of both sides for making this an enjoyable day. Player of the day went to Ben Storer who has improved in all areas and performed the fielding stop of the season to date, even if it was somewhat involantary.

More fun at The Park. Winning the toss and batting on an overcast morning may have sounded a gamble but with Sahil and Ben setting the tone in a fine opening stand, backed up nicely by Mathew and Angus we were well-placed and a fine cameo by Rohan helped us to a season high score. Hopes were high when Sahil started our bowling with a maiden over and both Jason and Mathew hit the stumps to take wickets but Team Mills gradually wore us down and were deserving winners on the day. Mathew was named player of the day for his all round contribution and carrying his Milo Skills training into the game. Team progress has definitely been made in all areas and we look forward to the next game.

Following on from last Saturday's brilliant victory, Team Fleming had high hopes for today. The team pracised well and Captain for the day Ollie won the toss and elected to bat. Team Bond used their bowling skills to great effect, limiting our team to 21 runs, which was still a very good batting result. Harrison showed great skills with the bat, and is really turning into the team's #1 batsman- his running between the wickets is legendary! We thought 21 would be a compettive total, and so it was, with the game tied up with 2 overs to go after some tight bolwing from our boys. However Team Bond's really had saved the best for last, plundering 19 runs off the last 2 overs and sealing the match. Sam once again bowled fantastically, and Kartik showed great flair in the field. Alex once again showed he is our star fielder, and can sprint from almost every corner of the field to bring in the big hits- well done! Eagle eyed Ollie is leading the team for fewest wides bowled and James's bowling and general play is improving every week. Congratulations to Francis who won Player of the Day for his great all round play and effort- keep it up! Thanks as always to all the parents and supporters and well done team Bond- a super display just like your namesake!

A challenging day out for team Vettori on a lovely Auckland Friday night. Batting first, our boys showed great application leaving any delivery outside the line of the stumps. The dot balls, along with the not so quick singles resulted in team Vettori needing to defend a small total. Into the field and a long day of school, plenty of chasing and sheer excitement took its toll on the players. Captain for the day Thaddeus was tireless, while player of the day Alexander bowled a fantastic over. William's bowl of the year nearly earned him a wicket, but secured him the ice cream and the moment of magic. Well done boys for your great effort. Thanks again for all the parental support.

Guptill | Player of the day: Jack

team Guptill continued to improve in fielding and bowling restricting Vettori to a total of 6. Joshua was the pick of the bowlers with 3 outs and Jack and Flynn also got wickets. Ryan was again great in the fiel;d and Jack chased hard. Adam got his highest score of the season (7), Hayden (9) and Matthew (7) had another great partnership and Flynn got double figures again (13). Joshua also got his highest score for the season (9). The picnic provided by the parents was a season highlight !!

Player of the day Thaddeus bowled extremely well, Connor bowled with a nice straight arm, Andre bowled with good speed and Robbie bowled a fantastic maiden. Then into bat and against some strong bowling, the team did well to score 12 runs. Elliot | Player of the day : Rohan Mathur

While we won't be sitting by the phone waiting for Sky Sports to call, Friday night cricket made a huge impact on us all at Team Elliot. Enthusiasm levels were high and we progressed notably in what we were aiming to achieve. Losing the toss we were happy to bowl first and Rohan and Ben got us off to a good start. Angus was our most miserly bowler and Mathew and Jason closed up the effort manfully. Having agreed at the team meeting that chasing and picking the ball was a good idea we all contributed to a much improved fielding effort. Next week we hope to start getting the ball back to the wickets after picking it up... Our master plan of practising hitting the ball off the tee was thwarted from the outset by great bowling from Team Bond who consistently bowled straight and too well for us. Arjun hit the ball well as did Angus but we fell somewhat behind the required rate and Sahil (our "Gun") was left with a bit too much to do bring home the spoils this time. Congratulations to all at Team Bond and thank you to all the parent helpers. Our player of the day went to Rohan in an attitude based award. Look for him to achieve great things in the future. We live to play another day... a fun start to the weekend.

Bond | Player of the day: Louis Smith

Captain for the day, Erik, won the toss and put us in to bat. Great batting and running enabled us to reach our best score for the season so far. A brilliant final partnership from Charlie and Erik (24) was the batting highlight. Louis' bowling (2 wickets; 1 against us for Team Elliot), and Erik's maiden over were brilliant. Keep up the good work boys! It's amazing to watch the enthusiasm in the field and the overall skills improvement each week. Thanks again to the scorers/umpires and food/energy suppliers.

A great effort from all the boys today. Today's Captain, Robbie Jones, won the toss and elected to bowl. It was a great fielding effort with some great throws and brilliant stops. Player of the Day, Connor, was everywhere and showed great enthusiasm. There was also some great bowling. Thaddeus bowled out 2 batsmen while Hugo produced a couple of moments of magic with on track bowling. Robbie's experiment with leg spin produced only 1 wide while Connor also bowled only 1 wide in his over. Then into bat where both William and Jake hit fantastic shots off the tee. Andre's slog sweep shot, demonstrated technique Ross Taylor himself would have been proud of, and flew to the boundary while Connor picked his gaps nicely. Well done team, hope you had fun & thanks again to all the parent helpers.

Fleming | Player of the day: Sam Cassidy

A FANTASTIC effort by the Mighty Flemings. The result, reflective of the passion and commitment the lads displayed on the day! Alex Wright captained the team and opened the batting. A great batting partnership was formed between Sam Cassidy and Harrison Grace, scoring an impressive 15 runs between them. Francis Brookes performed well with 'excaliber' helping top up the batting average. Kartik confused the opposition with his tactical running and Ben did very well with 1 runout and two very close calls later in the game. The Player of the day was Sam... and as they say...you can't keep a good man down! Alex deservedly won the magic moment with fielding that would make you weep, stopping the ball with his head! All the lads bowled famously with an outstanding display from Harrison bowling 3 batsman. All in all... an excellent effort!! A big thanks to the supporters club and affiliated groupies...

Styris | Player of the day: Oscar Ryall

Another good batting and bowling effort by the Styris team with the batters getting up to 22 at the halfway point, Charlie the captain leading the way with 8. The Guptill team then improved their fielding effort keeping the final two partnerships in the negative overall. The bowling effort also started well with George getting 2 wickets in his over and Georgia having a maiden over. Styris were tidy from then on however Guptill chased well and posted a winning total. A lack of any further run outs or wickets than in the first over counted against Styris in the end. Fleming | Player of the day : Alex Wright

A tough day at the office for Team Fleming, with a loss to the very capable Team Taylor who were on top of their game from the get-go. Captain Sam led the team well from the front, and today we welcomed Kartik in his first game for the team. Team Taylor won the toss, and showing brilliant tactics on a green and turning wicket put ting Team Fleming into bat. The team showed great courage, running on almost every shot. Sadly this clever tactic was thwarted by Team Taylor's brilliant fielding close to the wicket, with quite a few run-outs keeping our team total a fairly modest 0. Defending this total was always going to be challenging, but after a healthy dose of jelly snakes, the team was charged up and ready to give it their best. Our tactic was to slow the game down by bowling wide and slow, but again Team Taylor was ahead of us in the tactics department. Their hitting off the tee showed no mercy at all, and they ran up a pile of runs. In the end their total was too great and they popsted a well deserved win. For team Fleming the player of the day was Alex, who scored 6 runs, fielded with great enthusiasm and had 1-6 from his bowling. The magic moment went to Ben, while Kartik and Oliver picked up awards for great effort. Thannks to all the parents who helped out and well done Team Taylor.

Taylor | Player of the day: Isaac Briggs

Another great effort from the boys...Lucca setting the scene by winning the toss and electing to field first. Steady bowling by everyone, Isaac had an exceptional over with net runs of -5 (3 runs scored from it and 4 wickets). Some really sharp fielding helped and good support from each other all chasing the ball out into the deep!! Our batting went well with Ben Dunlop top scoring on 18 which is the highest score this season, and Nick and Isaac scoring 11 each. Some really good striking of the ball. William McLeay has improved out of sight this season chiming in with a handy 8. Another great Saturday of cricket

Everyone batted very well with Thaddeus producing a moment of magic with a beautifully played cut shot. There was some very impressive running between the wickets resulting in the team posting their highest score of the season. The boys also showed a vast improvement in their bowling with Andre narrowly missing out on a hatrick. Hugo, Jake and William bowled fantastic overs, while Connor, Alexander, Thaddeus and Robbie all bowled very straight too. The team also fielded magnificently. Connor threw the stumps down from distance to effect a brilliant run out. There was also another moment of magic from player of the day Robbie Jones. One of Robbie's 4 direct hit run outs was from at least 20m, with only 1 stump to aim at! Well done team. Special thanks to this weeks scorers and umpires, and great to see all the parents pitching in.

Elliot | Player of the day: Sahil Mathur

Indeed a great day for cricket. We fielded a full team and no debutants. Welcome to Angus playing his first game this year. We are sure both him and Ben will provide plenty of humour for the team this season. The scores show we came second but the wonderful thing to come out of this game was that every player and the team as a whole came out of it having made notable steps forward. Team Vettori played a reallly good game and their fielding in particular was outstanding so congratulations to them. Sahil was our player of the day having led us out magnificently with the bat. Michael bowled well, only going for a single run. Mathew and Jason both took wickets while Arjun and Rohan provided much excitement with their running between the wickets. We have skills to work on but our attention in the field was much improved and the smiles on our faces made it a fun start to the weekend.

Outstanding start to the season. The boys were bright eyed, and concentrated well in the field. Restricted the oppostition to 11 runs...Lucca was player of the day for some outstanding fielding resulting in 3 run outs. Everyone bowled well particularly given this was game 1. We batted really well amassing a good amount of runs....magic moment for the day was Nick hitting a straight drive a long way. Great seaon opener

Elliott | Player of the day: Michael Fong

On a wonderful day for cricket our seven lads made their Cornwall (and cricket) debuts. We played Team Taylor and we came a comfortable second. Batting first, our score was 11 to their 69 runs in reply. Congratulations to Team Taylor for a game well played. They showed good skills and a keen understanding of what they were trying to achieve. Our team captain for the day was Arjun (who managed to win the toss for us) and our player of the day was Michael who batted well and fielded excellently. It was a good starting point for us, everyone played well and showed great team sprint when retrieving the ball “as one”. We are pleased that the team enjoyed themselves and with the enthusiasm shown. We also know that we have a couple of things to work on. Thank you for the parents who umpired, kept score and helped in general play and thank you to the Team Taylor parents for their assistance in our “moments of need”. We’re very proud of our team Elliot and look forward to our next game. Onwards and upwards!

Beaut day for the start of the cricket season. Boys all very enthusiastic. Hugo made it most of the way through the match with his broken collar bone... batting 1 handed! Excellent bowling, batting and running by Theo, Charlie, Suhas, Sean, Louis and Erik. Toby bowled well with his first ever wicket. Well done Hugo and Team BOND.

VETTORI | Player of the day: Andre O'Connell

A beautiful day for our first game. The boys were magnificent, having great fun even though it was 'the longest game of cricket ever' for some of them. Robbie's catch was a moment of magic and Andre played very well with some hearty batting, fantastic throwing and great bowling. All boys did very well and we can't wait for our next game

match report

Fleming | Player of the day : Sam Cassidy

Team Fleming took on Team Styris on Friday afternoon in their opening match of the season. Team Stytris won the the toss and put Team Fleming into the field first, led by today's Captain Ben Tidswell, who opened the bowling. All the team bowled extremely well, considering for almost everybody it was their first real go at the tricky art. Team Styris notched up a good 35 runs. Bowling highlights included Captain Ben's opening over which only saw 1 run scored, and Sam Cassidy whose bowling figures were 2 overs, 2 for 3. Chasing 35, all the team batted brilliantly, with lots of great hits for everybody. Highlights were James Hutchinson's consistent batting, and Alex Wright's cheeky running which saw him top score an impressive 8 runs. Despite a great effort, the team didn't quite get up to win, but everybody made a great start to the season. Huge thanks to all the parents, grandparents and supporters who turned out and cheered the team on from the rather cool and windy sidelines, and thanks also to the parents who helped with umpiring, scoring and keeping the boys motivated through the game. Stats: Friday 30 October Team Fleming (20) lost to Team Styris (35) Player of the Day (and captain this coming Saturday): Sam Moment of the Day and ice cream voucher (for lots of cheeky singles): Alex McDonald's burger voucher for great play (consistent batting): James

Styris | Player of the day: Douglas Polo

It was a cool evening for the parents at the ground as the sun dropped in the west and the wind swirled in from the south, however the players were not cold at all, rather they were busy and excited for the first game of the season. To be able to bottle that enthusiasm for the next 15 games!. All in all the team had a great first game and got a reasonable total on the board after the captain, Luke won the toss and chose to bat. Fleming was equal to the task also and chased the Styris total well until the last couple of overs where a few outs got Styris home. Team Styris all played very well with Douglas, George, Georgia and Oscar all getting run outs. Charlie bowled a great last over, William got a wicket on debut and Luke lead the team well with some great batting and running from shots off the tee. In the end Douglas was awarded the player of the day for an unwavering commitment in all he did with a smile on his face. Thanks to the scorers, umpire and supporters, lets hope this Friday night is a bit warmer.

ADAMS | Player of the day : Callum Bishop

It was an enjoyable and successful start to the season for team ADAMS. Mohinder, the team captain, led from the front by bowling out the opposing opening batsman with the first ball of the match. Callum was outstanding in the field and Oscar, Isaac, Andrew and Finlay all contributed well with the bat. Jatin showed that he had an affinity to wicketkeeping.
